Perfect for those who want to develop their receptive and productive skills: This course is tailored for Building on Basics graduates or those who are looking to take their conversations to the next level. Our experienced instructors ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
🗓️ 5 Weeks to grow your BSL Skills: Over 5 extended weeks, you'll build on your robust foundation. By the end, you'll confidently hold longer conversations in BSL and communicate more sophisticated ideas. The course explores topics such as placement and prepositions in BSL, hobbies, and work. With extended 75-minute sessions, you'll have more time to practice under the guidance of our experienced instructors.

Completing the Building on Basics course is excellent preparation and all you need to take this next step.
People who have learned the basics in other ways are very welcome and value the ability to ask questions and gain personal insight into the language or as a refresher if you have learnt sign language a while ago.
You need to be confident with the vocabulary for time, transport, family and friends. If you are unsure whether you are suitable for this course, please email our lead course instructor Daniel (daniel@signawaybsl.co.uk) to discuss further.

The course takes place at Room 3, Leigh Community Centre, SS9 1SP. There is parking on nearby roads and a pay and display carpark on Elm Road which is adjacent to the community centre.

The course runs on Monday evenings from 7:45 PM to 9:00 PM. The upcoming course dates are 16th September, 23rd September, 30th September, 7th October and 14th October.

Course videos for every week will be released via the WhatsApp group usually within 24 hours of each lesson so you have plenty of time to practice if you would like to before the following week.
If you do not have access to Whatsapp the videos will be made available to you via other means. -
Throughout the course, you will learn about placement and prepositions exploring topics such as the home, holidays and directions. Your skills will be reinforced with activities such as describing your holiday from hell. Then we will take our explanations and conversations to the next level delving into work and hobbies.

Worry not! All content from the Building on Basics course will be revised before we use it again in this course. Hopefully, by the end of this course, you will feel even more confident with the material learned in the Beginners course. Also, you will still have access to all the videos from previous courses.

Absolutely! This course is designed for graduates from our Building on Basics course. So it is suitable for anyone interested in learning British Sign Language, regardless of prior experience or background and whether you are a language guru or your foreign language vocabulary only extends to “Bonjour”.

Yes, the course fee covers all instructional materials and resources needed for the duration of the course. This course has no exams.

The Building on Basics course is perfect for graduates of the Beginners course or those with a basic understanding of sign language. It focuses on expanding your vocabulary and expressing basic opinions and descriptions.
On the other hand, our Creating Conversation course takes your skills to the next level. In this course, you'll learn to ask and answer questions with more complex reasons, enhancing your ability to engage in deeper and more meaningful conversations. -
Unfortunately, due to venue restrictions, this course is not suitable for those under 18. Sign up to our mailing list in our footer to be kept up to date about future events for those under 18.

While we encourage attendance at all sessions to get the most out of the course, we understand that life happens. If you need to miss a session, don't worry! We provide in-house made videos for you to catch up on any missed material.
