Completing the Beginners course is excellent preparation and all you need for taking this next step.
People have completed this course, learned the basics in other ways, and valued the ability to ask questions and gain personal insight into the language or as a refresher if you have learnt sign language a while ago. You need to be confident with fingerspelling, colours, animals, weather, and food and drink. If you are unsure whether you are suitable for this course, please email our course instructor Daniel (daniel@signawaybsl.co.uk) to discuss further. -
The course takes place at Room 3, Leigh Community Centre, SS9 1SP. There is parking on nearby roads and a pay and display carpark on Elm Road which is adjacent to the community centre.

The course runs on Monday evenings from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM. The upcoming course dates are 16th September, 23rd September, 30th September, 7th October and 14th October

Worry not! All content from the Beginners course will be revised before we use it again in this course. Hopefully, by the end of this course, you will feel even more confident with the material learned in the Beginners course. Also, you will still have access to all the videos from previous courses.

Course videos for every week will be released via the WhatsApp group usually within 24 hours of each lesson so you have plenty of time to practice if you would like to before the following week.
If you do not have access to Whatsapp the videos will be made available to you via other means. -
Throughout the course, we'll delve into topics such as Transport, Time, Money and Dates, and Family and Friends. We will also develop skills to link topics together when we have the opportunity to participate in storytelling during this course!

Absolutely! This course is designed for graduates from our Beginners course. So it is suitable for anyone interested in learning British Sign Language, regardless of prior experience or background and whether you are a language guru or your foreign language vocabulary only extends to “Bonjour”.

Yes, the course fee covers all instructional materials and resources needed for the duration of the course. This course has no exams.

The Beginners course is designed for those with no prior knowledge of sign language, while the Building on Basics course is intended for graduates of the Beginners course or those with some basic understanding of sign language. Participating in this course is the perfect next step for those who have completed the Building on Basics course.

Unfortunately, due to venue restrictions, this course is not suitable for those under 18. Sign up to our mailing list in our footer to be kept up to date about future events for those under 18.

While we encourage attendance at all sessions to get the most out of the course, we understand that life happens. If you need to miss a session, don't worry! We provide in-house made videos for you to catch up on any missed material.
